Welcome

This site is about anthropology, ecology and cultural exchange between Western-Europe and West-Africa, especially Casamance, the southern province of Senegal. Religious beliefs still play a dominant role in african every day life whereas in the western world religious practices seem to vanish. One may consider this tendency as a quite paradoxical turn of missionary activities in Casamance that strengthened at least since 1888 when France bought the province from the former portuguese colonists.

"Catholic church in Europe resents a serious crises" a Joola priest who knows well several european countries stated. And on the other hand german friends claimed: "It's now up to black priests from Africa to be on mission in Europe."

Contributions on this site try to examine wether this first appreciation will reveal to be true or on the contrary has to be corrected. Anyway, we are all descendants of Adam and Eve and in need of salvation and deliverance. Thus, black and white people should meet in the perspective of hope for forgiveness and reconciliation.

Fromager Affiniam

Finally, let us emphasise our special engagement for the Casamance village of Affiniam. Indeed, our philosophy leads to concrete projects, the Ecofestival and the to be botanical garden for medicinal plants. Both should converge into a synergy that revitalises the rich traditions of the Jóola ethnic group. Thus, the village youth may be empowered to shape the future on the local grounds of their ancestors instead of chasing after illusory dreams.
